US Senate Passes Bill Requiring TikTok to Divest, Awaiting Biden's Signature

The US Senate passed a bill requiring TikTok to divest its business under the threat of a ban. The bill, which is bundled with a US$95 billion foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel and others, was voted on and approved, and will be submitted to US President Joe Biden for his signature.

The bill, which requires TikTok to divest itself from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, for up to one year (providing a revised period of 9 months, with a 3-month extension if a sale is in progress), was passed 79-18.
