Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasised the need to vigorously develop intelligent connected NEVs during his research at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition yesterday (28 Apr). He stressed the need to lead industrial innovation with scientific and technological innovation, while deepening and expanding open cooperation. The automobile industry's premium, intelligent, and green upgrading shall be promoted to better meet and create market demand.
Li Qiang visited the exhibition areas of Dongfeng, BYD, IM Motors, Ji Yue, BMW, Geely, Xiaomi, Seres, Xpeng and other brands, inspecting the exhibited models and technology displays. He pointed out that China's intelligent connected NEVs have formed a leading edge in market competition and open cooperation, and the enterprises should continue to work hard to maintain and develop this advantage. He guided the automakers to be innovation-driven, demand-oriented and quality-based as they accelerate the R&D of key core technologies and strengthen the forward planning of technology R&D roadmap, so as to promote continued industry upgrading.
Li Qiang stressed that intelligent connected NEVs are, to a certain extent, the product of global industrial cooperation, and future development requires all parties to give full play to their strengths and deepen the division of labour. China will further construct a unified national market, expand high-level opening up, continue to relax market access, and promote the liberalisation and facilitation of trade and investment. He stated that the treatment of domestic and foreign enterprises shall be equal, as the parties promote wider exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign automobile enterprises in the areas of capital, technology, management and talents, which would in turn bring common development and mutual benefits.
